Who says lawyers don't have a sense of humor

.
Below is a small part of an hilarious email I received from a friend who works in a large law office. It seems March Madness invades their hallowed halls. Enjoy.

Once again it's that special time of year -- March Madness!  It's the 83nd annual Dewey, Cheatham & Howe Bracketology contest.  Fill out your bracket, and you could be crowned the 2011 Bracketology Champion.

As always, Barry will be providing the winner with a prize commensurate with the importance of their accomplishment.

Brackets must be filled out in INK and turned in to Hannah "Hoops" by Tuesday, March 15th at 5:00pm in order to be eligible for the Tuesday evening play-in games.

If you want a little more time (or you just plain forgot), you can turn your bracket in by Thursday 3/17 at 10:00am, although you will be ineligible for the four points possible for correctly picking the Tuesday night play-in games. Traci misses this almost every time, and it never hurts her, so what’s the big deal, anyway?  (Many people do this)

This is not a paperless operation, for obvious reasons.  Please be sure to put your name on your bracket!

RULES:

1)    You get one point for picking a first-round winner, two points for picking a second-round winner, three points for picking a third-round winner, etc.  If math is not your strong suit, and you need help figuring out how many points you get for correctly picking for later round games, please see Dan “Wolverine” for a short math tutorial that is very likely to involve sock puppets, toothpaste and/or Mardi Gras beads.

3)  Points are DOUBLED if your pick defeats a higher-seeded team in the game you've picked.  For example, if you pick the #16 seed to beat the #1 seed, you'd get 2 points instead of 1.  You'd also have cottage cheese in your head, but that's beside the point.

4)  The tiebreaker is your best guess of how many total points will be scored in the Championship Game.

5)  This is a highly exclusive contest.  Eligibility is restricted to anyone who works in Dewey, Cheatham & Howe, is related to someone in Dewey, Cheatham & Howe, known someone in Dewey, Cheatham & Howe, or has been contacted by them with threats of litigation, broken limbs or other adverse action.  If you would like us to contact you with threats of litigation, please let us know.

(In other words, please invite others to play)

6)  The winner (who will likely come from the threats department) has bragging rights for the year as the 2011 Grand Champion Bracketology Prognosticator of Dewey, Cheatham & Howe.

Tee hee.
