Homage to Junk

...

If you have out of town guests
who can walk-
please take them to the

Do not miss this fantazmagoria of metal,
rubber, colored glass bottle trellis, circuits, concrete,
bicycles, lamps, cds, signs, stairs, tvs,
pliers and screwdrivers embedded in the sidewalk-

Two story,
solid as a rock,
homage to junk.

Eight time Winner-
“Keepin’ Austin Weird-orama”

The Cathedral of Junk has got to be on some top ten places to experience list. Vince Hanneman, shown at right, on his custom made concrete "Throne de Junque" has been building and embellishing this monument for 20 years. He's a junk aficionado. The link will tell you all you need to know and more. Vince's backyard is open for gawking so head on down.

Here are my friends Ted and Charlotte. We visited Vince and his junk when they came to Austin last month. I thought it was the perfect tourist attraction for Ted as he's a world-call collector of quality stuff. I think he's planning on bringing a flatbed down from Midland.

Look closely at the picture. Oh...I forgot to mention the hubcaps.

I spoke to Vince. He's around most of the weekend but you need to call and make sure.
