Joltin' Joe

I just finished an in depth article about Joe DiMaggio by Gay Talese.

I know three things about Joe DiMaggio-
   He was  a great baseball player
   He's the "Joltin' Joe" mentioned in the Simon and Garfunkel song
   He was married to Marilyn Monroe.

I know a lot more now. His daddy was an Italian American and a fisherman off the Golden Gate in San Francisco. His brothers were ball players. He was 39 when he married Marilyn Monroe who was then 27.

Mostly what I got was that he was always a gentleman. And a gentle man.

I don't give a hoot about baseball. But this is a great piece about a great man. I really enjoyed it.
