Why I love technology

I have been job hunting for two weeks now. Had my first rejection yesterday. Also my first real pang of fear. But it passed.

Mostly this process is one of combing the job listings and doing the work. But there is also a fair amount of dreaming. It's my adult equivalent of "what do I want to be when I grow up?" With every job description I open I have another chance to fantasize myself into that roll.

Grant writer? Texas Historic Trails Director-I have read Lone Star by TR Feherenbach-Development director for an assisted living facility. The list goes on and on.

Last night I applied for a job as Channel Marketing Manager for Dun and Bradstreet. And that was fun. They own Hoovers, which is a healthy spit away from my house. And the job is based in Short Hills NJ which is another spit away from where I grew up. I could be based in Austin and fly to my hometown once a month for a week. They don't know that's the plan but I'll certainly let them know.

Today I'm most interested in the Texas Historic Trails position. How fun would that be? I grew up on "back roads adventures". This seems like a logical extension. Here's the part where technology comes in. I put in my application via the net. No photocopies or stamps involved.

I received an email from the THTC folks. I need to sign the application. Since I can't send a pen through the ether I've done the next best thing. I took a photo of my signature with my iPhone and emailed it. How cool is that. I love technology!

As an addendum- I HATE COMPUTERS!!!
I had moved all my folders the other day and when I tried to put the photo of my signature into iPhoto it wouldn't map to the new location. ARGH!!! I am now re-importing 7500 photos. I hate computers.
--and as an additional note-I just inadvertantly deleted all 12gbs of photos.
