Wow-it took me less than 4 hours to put the trickle down effect of unemployment into play. I got home around 3 on Thursday. By 4 I had canceled the WiFi that was a pain in the neck and hadn't worked right for 45 days. OK-that's $30/mo I won't have to pay. Though, since I'm using my neighbor's signal I'll chip in there.
Then a couple of hours later I called the woman who cleans my house every three weeks...that's history now too. So, I've cut my expenses by about $100/month so far.
I never got the "trickle down effect of recession" till now. Just two simple acts and I've taken $100 out of the economy. Now AT&T probably isn't reeling just yet. But if you multiply that by jillions of people it becomes an issue.
But what about the woman who used to clean my house. I'm sure my $75/mo was not that big a deal, but if she loses 10 customers it sure will be. She'll have to stop buying things she's been buying. And that takes more money out of the flow.
This is really interesting and I must say, I didn't really get it till it happened to me.
Speaking of trickle down, did you hear about California's hold on tax refunds? Not exactly trickle down, but certainly ironic.
