Xmas Presents #1-Rescued Offerings

.
My friend Ellen has been making great fabric things for decades. Her friend Frances is a 100% partner in crime-and in Rescued Offerings.

For my girlfriends with girlfriends-this is a trove of presents for self and friends. For my male readers with girlfriends, wives, daughters or female co-workers...ditto.

Silk and Beads Reticule - Light Gold After-Five Bag

This vintage style reticule is patterned after the small bags carried in the 18th and 19th century, most notably, in the Jane Austin Regency Period. The reticule was designed to carry just a few essentials needed for an outing… and to do so ever so stylishly. This bag brings together tid bits of our best "scraps" from a multitude of origins. The body is made from a beautiful and shimmery silk that has a deeper gold lantern flower pattern sparingly woven into the silk. (The nice thing about working with “scraps” is that you end up getting to work with fabrics that you would never be able to afford to buy.) The entire outline of the urn-shaped bag is adorned with champagne-colored beads. The top of the bag is embellished with a catch of champagne tulle, a silk flower, accent beading, vintage ribbon and a bit of antique gold metallic bullion, all sewn securely to the bag. The bag handle is very dainty but very sturdy, constructed from a deconstructed length of the bullion, crocheted into a chain. The extra long shoulder strap can be knotted to adjust its length. The bag is interlined with a thick plush flannel and lined in the same silk used on the exterior and has a snap closure. Dimensions 6.5 inches at widest point 9 inches deep 32 inch shoulder strap/handle
