I'm old enough to remember this chair. Are you?

This is an iconic chair from Charles and Ray Eames. And it's not the only one you're familiar with. Here's another.

But furniture and homes are not all the Eames' did. Below is a cool video they produced. Here's an intro from the Wiki:
Powers of Ten is a 1968 short documentary film written and directed by Ray Eames and her husband, Charles Eames.[1] The film depicts the relative scale of the Universe in factors of ten. It's a great visual trip for tiny to giant. I'm excited that the video is available on YouTube. Here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Hi Shel,
ReplyDeletedid you notice that Charles and Ray died on the same day, 10 years apart?
Charles Ormond Eames, Jr died August 21, 1978
Ray-Bernice Alexandra Kaiser Eames died ten years later August 21, 1988
(btw, this caught my attention b/c my bday is 8/21)
I traveled with a group to Santa Monica Sep 2008 and we saw the exterior and the yard of the Eames House. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eames_House; I really didn't know what I was seeing then.
