A road trip

.
I've been on a couple during the past month. First to Port Isabel. It is truly at the end of Texas. 350 miles each way. The trip includes 75 miles through the King Ranch. I hadn't make that trip in over 30 years. The Ranch is not as desolate as it once was.

I'm reading "Taking the Great American Road Trip", an article in this month's Smithsonian by Paul Theroux. I read his travelogue of rail travel in Europe years ago. Now I know why that book sticks in my memory. He's a great storyteller.

Richard is a great road trip companion. Great sense of humor, doesn't get pissed off at stuff you can't do anything about and stops to pee. On the trip to Port Isabel we listened to innumerable CDs- Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger from start to finish. The Persuasions-great R&B. Toni Price, "From Lefty to Willie". It was magic.

Here's how Paul Theroux puts it, "Listening to music while driving through a lovely landscape is one of life's great mood enhancers."

YES!

Here's the guy that has truly enhanced my mood.

Those laugh lines are contagious.

Sorry I haven't posted much lately, I've been busy laughing.
