After listening to this song sung by Jeff Buckley for the past 5 years I couldn't imagine enjoying anyone's version as much as Buckley's. Least of all Leonard Cohen. The famous songwriter who's almost as infamous for his terrible voice.
This video has changed my mind. Wow-
And if that's not enough this link will get you to dozens of renditions. I'd say KD Lang's might be next after Jeff Buckley's. But check out Leonard Cohen's it's really powerful. The version here is not his first recording but I like this rendition the best. And I've been listening recordings of the same song by different artists for the past 1/2 hour.
You decide.
Here's more from Wikipedia.
My favorite Leonard Cohen recording of Hallelujah is from the Glastonbury Festival this year. My overall fave is by Allison Crowe on her Tidings album.
ReplyDeleteHallelujah is one of the most beautiful of all popular songs. It's no wonder there are dozens of loved versions.
